Hello! My name is Sonja, and I am a dedicated educator with years of experience helping students build strong reading, writing and language skills. As a certified reading teacher, I specialize in supporting English Language Learners, struggling readers, and students who need extra support to reach their full potential. I believe every learner can succeed when given the right tools and individualized instruction. My lessons are student-centered and designed to meet each student's unique needs.

I have 9 years experience of coaching highschool baseball, 2 of those as a head coach. I also coached little league for 3 seasons as well.

Award-winning essayist and poet who earned a Creative Writing degree from University of Michigan. Finished a novella in 1998 titled “Vietnam War Stories” encapsulating Vietnam’s history of violence from ancient times to modern-day Houston, Texas. Published a self-help keepsake journal with novel on-line ledger aspect titled “This Book Now Belongs To” in 2020. I am a firm believer of coaching writing fundamentals and enabling discovery of both a writing voice and untapped creativity.

5.0 USTA level. Nothing beats the reward of watching my students improve right before my eyes. This is exactly why I love coaching. I currently coach at Memorial West Community Club, where I have spent the last few years guiding dedicated regular students. Alongside coaching, I recently qualified for the USTA Nationals in Las Vegas at the 4.5 league level.
