A title that names one person
"Group lesson" fills slowly because nobody reads it and thinks "that is for me." "Beginner intro to pickleball" or "Third shot drop workshop" does the opposite: it tells one specific person what they will walk away with. Put the audience and the outcome in the title, and keep the description to what happens in the hour.
Price a spot, cap the group
A spot priced at roughly a third to a half of your private rate feels like a deal to the student and still multiplies what the hour pays you. Set the cap at the number you can coach well, not the number the court can hold. For racquet sports that is often four players per court. Keep a waitlist, so a dropout on Friday night becomes someone else’s spot on Saturday morning.
Program or drop-in
A multi-week program is one signup and one payment for a session each week. It builds a committed group and puts the full fee in your account up front. Price it for the program, not per week.
A weekly drop-in lets students pay per date. It lowers the commitment bar and works as a steady funnel, but every week needs its own promotion. If what you want is a group that shows up for six weeks, run a program.
- Program: one payment, every week, a committed group.
- Drop-in: pay per date, low commitment, weekly promotion.
Let the signup page do the admin
Take payment at signup, every time. "I will pay you Saturday" is how clinics end up half empty. A good signup page collects the payment and the waiver, closes when the clinic is full, opens the waitlist, and puts the roster on your phone. Parents should not need to create an account to sign up a child. Optional add-ons at checkout, such as a ball, a shirt, or a video review, raise what each player spends without touching the price.
CoachGrow gives every clinic its own signup page that does all of this.
Where the first eight come from
Your current and past students are the warmest audience you will ever have, so send them the link first. Then post it in the local groups you belong to, following each group’s rules on promotion, with a real photo, the date, and the price.
If spots are still open a week out, run a local ad for the clinic: about fifteen miles around the venue at fifteen dollars a day for a week. Grant’s $180 filled twelve of twelve. For the last two or three spots, a discount code with a reason and a deadline works, then switch it off.
Afterwards, send the players who asked the most questions a link to book a private lesson. The clinic paid for the hour, and the follow-up is where the season comes from.
