Setting a rate you can defend
When did you last change your rate? For a lot of coaches the honest answer is "when I started," and the number came from a guess about what felt fair to ask. Meanwhile the market moved. Here is how to set a rate from what coaches in your skill and metro actually charge, build the rest of the menu from that one number, and publish the policies that mean you never argue about it over text.

Who this is for
Coaches with no packages, a tangled package list, or a rate they have not reviewed in a year.
Look at the market before you pick a number
Intel shows your price against the market median for your skill and metro, where you sit by percentile, and a plain recommendation to raise, lower, or hold. It also puts your profile conversion beside the market rate, which is the quickest way to learn whether your problem is the price or the page. A full calendar is its own answer: if you are booked solid, the rate is too low, and what you want is a higher price or a clinic, not a discount code.
One number builds the menu
Beside Private Lessons, Manage opens package management, and Smart pricing is the mode that does the work. Enter one hourly rate and a bar shows where it sits against other coaches who teach your skill. Pick the lengths you teach from 30, 60, 90, and 120 minutes, set an extra charge per additional student, and choose your pack discounts. Publish once; after that, changes save on their own.
Smart pricing only touches the packages it created, so anything you built by hand stays as it was. If your menu has become a tangle of near-identical packs, let one rate rebuild it rather than editing them one at a time.
Groups are priced per person
A group price is per head, not per group, so three students at $25 each bills $75. Set Max group size in the same section, because if it stays at one, students never see a group option at all and your group prices sit there doing nothing.
Decide who pays the card fee
Each package has a Students pay processing fees switch. Turned on, the fees are added to the student’s total and your full price reaches your payout. Turned off, they come out of your payout instead. The fees are card processing at 2.9 percent plus thirty cents, and the 0.99 percent CoachGrow fee on direct bookings. There is no marketplace commission on site sales in either mode.
A policy the booking flow enforces for you
In Booking policies, set your free cancellation window, then a late cancellation fee and a no-show fee as a share of the lesson price: none, 25, 50, 75, or 100 percent. Both start at none. Students agree to the terms before they pay, and you approve every charge before it is applied. A published policy is what makes a rate defensible, because the conversation about a missed lesson happened at checkout instead of in your messages the next morning.
If you do discount, do it with a reason and an end date. A code tied to a new season or three open weekday slots, shared where the interest already is and switched off when the push ends, converts hesitant students without teaching everyone to wait for a sale. It comes out of your payout, so size it so the discounted lesson still pays. Feature one code as your welcome offer for first lessons only.

Common questions
Does the Intel recommendation change my price?+−
No. It is advice only. You change your rate in Smart pricing, or on your profile under Set Your Rate for the marketplace.
Can I change a package price after publishing?+−
Yes. Open the package, change the price, and save. What you cannot change is the package type, from one-time to subscription, once it exists.
Do late fees charge students automatically?+−
No. Students agree to the terms before they pay, and you approve every charge before it is applied.
