Why are lapsed students your cheapest bookings?
Most students who stop booking did not decide to leave. Life got busy and nobody asked. A former student already knows your coaching, your prices, and where you teach, so one personal message does what an ad, a listing, and a first-lesson discount do for a stranger. It also costs nothing.
Who goes first
Sort past students by how many lessons they took and how recently they stopped. The student who took twelve lessons and lapsed last month comes before the one who took one and lapsed last year. For a weekly student, about two months without a booking is a fair line for "lapsed".
Skip two groups: anyone who left over a dispute, who needs a different conversation, and anyone you would not want back on your court. Blasting the whole list is how a good habit gets a bad reputation. CoachGrow builds and ranks this list for you, so the pass takes minutes.
What to write
Make it personal, and make the line that matters about what they were working on. "Your backhand was starting to click in July. If you want to pick it back up, here is my calendar." One next step and one link, with no wall of homework attached.
Lead with the reason, not a discount. A student who missed you comes back for the coaching. Save offers for the ones who said price was the problem.
Once, then monthly
Send one message. If there is no answer, let it sit. A second nudge reads as pressure and spends the goodwill you would want for a fresh try next season.
Warren’s eighteen messages took an evening, and a pass like that once a month is the rhythm that works. The list refreshes as students lapse, so each month brings a new short list.
